Under pressure
When people face heart-pounding fear or stress, normally, their bodies produce a lot of adrenaline, which would make people have a lot of energy for a while, but of course, after the time of being energetic, they would feel tired and hungry afterwards. Also, when people face stress, there could be different reactions. Some people may deal with the pressure well and may even use the pressure as a bumper and get a higher result that has higher quality. Some other people though, won't be able to deal with the pressure and hurt themselves. If it's more serious, some might even commit suicide. Normally when I face stress, I would feel depressed and frustrated for quite a while, and start to do what I should be doing. For example, when there is a large amount of homework, I would freak out and panic first before I start working on them. And when people take actions when the stakes are high, I believe that they feel that there would be no loss even if they make those decisions. The condition they were in should've been really bad so that they wouldn't care about whether they would face bad consequences since the situation may not get worse.
